Toyin Abraham Faces Backlash Over Alleged Arrest Of Social Media Influencer, Big Ayo

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham refuted claims that she unlawfully detained a social media user known as Ayo and his mother for defamation during an Instagram live session on July 10, 2024. She clarified that she had not taken any actions against anyone’s mother, addressing the rumors that were circulating widely.

On the 9th of July, there was a serious commotion on the social media platform X, otherwise known as Twitter, about the arrest of a social media influencer, Big Ayo by a celebrity actress and social media influencer, Toyin Abraham after charging him with the crime of cyberbullying.

What Caused Toyin’s Backlash

Before now, and ever since Toyin Abraham disclosed her support for Tinubu to the public by saying that Tinubu shared his ideas and vision with her, she has faced many reactions from X users. Big Ayo, one of the people trolling her accuses her of using the money shared with her by Tinubu to do a hair transplant for her husband.  At first, Toyin took this as a joke but later took it seriously, and started swearing in Yoruba. Vowing to deal with those bullying her, she alerted the police to arrest Ayo. A friend of Big Ayo by the name of Jeffery accused her of arresting his mother illegally. but Toyin denies saying that she only arrested the culprit, Big Ayo who reportedly turned himself in after learning what happened.

Big Ayo in Prison

The news of Big Ayo in prison caused an uproar on X with mixed reactions from users with some criticizing her actions especially Big Ayo fans while others supported her actions thereby bringing up the motion and hashtag #FreeAyo. Her critics stated that she was wrong to arrest Ayo, they also accused her of cyberbullying and abuse of power. Toyin replied by saying that she was exercising her rights by arresting him. Many critics took it a step further by threatening to report her movies to Netflix to be taken down and also report her social media pages by tagging her as a bully. Many others too decided to stay neutral but still addressed Toyin’s actions as wrong and told her that she could have handled the situation better.

VeryDarkMan Gives Toyin Abraham 24 Hour Ultimatum

Controversial activist VeryDarkMan has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to actress Toyin Abraham, demanding the release of Ayo, an individual detained for cyberbullying. He addressed her actions as oppression and issued a 24-hour ultimatum demanding the release of Ayo. According to a recent update, it was reported that Ayo was released on the 10th of July 2024(a day after his arrest), due to the pressure mounted on Toyin Abraham.
