It is with deep regret we announce that one of the good things to happen to the nation in regards to Favor Ofili, a 100m sprinter, and athlete, was not registered for the 100m event of the Paris Olympics currently taking place in the French capital by the NOC and OFN.
According to the athlete who shared the news on X (formerly known as Twitter), she qualified for the event but was unfortunately not registered by the OFN and NOC. In her own words, she trained well for this opportunity spanning four years and had it all shattered at the last minute. She also suffered a similar fate in the previous Olympics due to negligence and lack of professionalism from those who were in charge of things like this.
This is not the first time something like this has happened. Imaging training and preparing for something for four years only for it to be taken from you because of simple and small mistakes, something that can be avoided overall?
Just as mentioned already, this keeps happening and those responsible keep getting away with it and nothing is even done about it. we keep saying other nations steal athletes from us and that’s why we can’t compete with other nations. Truth is when things like this continue happening, trust and respect will never be given to the organization that is supposed to care for these athletes.
The truth is most of these ministries and organizations are not working and failed and either the government is just too blind to see or just turning a blind eye to the whole thing. Something drastic and crucial has to be done before we lose all of our athletes to other nations and when they do if eventually they do, they shouldn’t be blamed!
