Robert Downey Jr famous for making the character Iron Man come to life is set to make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after five years of absence, but not in the role he has embodied in the franchise (Iron Man).
The actor will be making his comeback this time as Dr Victor Von Doom, a notorious villain in the comic books, for those who are following, that have spawned the famous film series.
Avengers: Doomsday is set for a release date of May 2026 as well as a further installment titled Secret Wars, exactly one year later.
Other stars set to join the Marvel franchise were reportedly unveiled at the Comic-Con event that took place in San Diego.
The actor appeared on stage but at the time concealed behind Doctor Doom’s iconic mask and green cloak just before unveiling himself to anticipating fans.
The actor when speaking to reporters said: “I like playing complicated roles.”
Remember the actor was very much instrumental in launching the renowned Marvel movie universe, starring in its very first film Iron Man back in 2008. He however last appeared in a Marvel movie in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The American actor also won an Oscar for his role in the movie Oppenheimer in the early parts of this year.
