For the last 8 years, Darlington Sheriff, a Nigerian video creator and editor, has been pouring his heart and soul into making stunning video content. We really need to take a closer look at his storytelling and colour grading skills.
He got his passion from his dad. He was always into phones and gadgets, laptops, and computers, and he found it really interesting to see how they worked. That’s how he picked up the skill of documenting his life from his dad. His dad was a scaffolder working offshore, and he had this little cybershot camera that captured everything.
Back in 2009, his dad was busy with a house project, but since he was often out at sea, he couldn’t keep an eye on things. So, he handed his mum a camera to capture all the action—the artisans, tilers, builders and every craftsman involved in the project. So, after she wrapped up recording their progress for about a month, she’d send the camera back to him offshore through his company so he could check out the footage. During that time, they were also capturing their lives as kids. They actually filmed Michael Jackson’s funeral.
His parents have passed away, but he picked up a lot from them. He mentioned that it’s important to capture every moment, whether it’s good or bad; all of it will come together to tell a bigger story. He really got into filmmaking and storytelling because he watched his parents do it first.
Check out this video of his that really highlights his professionalism.
He’s really inspiring! He took advantage of his platform to share the message. It’s great to hear how he expresses his thoughts and feelings about God.
